Hello, wonderful readers! Today, I am absolutely thrilled to share with you our recent adventure into the world of entrepreneurship! 

Our partnership started when we were 15 and is still going strong 44 years later. It’s only now in our late 50s, that, quite by accident, we have embarked on a new journey together we affectionately call "olderpreneurship." So, sit back and let me take you through our tale of love, creativity, and a touch of whimsy!

Let me introduce you to my amazing husband, Andy, a gentle and thoughtful soul. Andy was looking for a way to improve his mental well-being and after stumbling across a box of broken bits and pieces in the garage he began crafting robots from recycled materials. These wonderful creations, which I lovingly named "The Berts," have become his passion and a source of boundless joy. Crafting The Berts has truly transformed his life and helped to calm his mind.

Each Bert possesses a unique personality, a story, and a character.

That's where I come into the picture. I couldn't resist joining in on the fun. I began weaving enchanting tales about The Berts, crafting children's stories that carry messages of acceptance and respect for differences.

I've always believed that stories have the power to inspire change. The Berts, with their distinct personalities and appearances, teach children that differences are something to be celebrated, not feared.

Inspired by our newfound passion and a deep desire to share the message of acceptance and respect, Andy and I founded "We Are Bert Ltd" early in 2023. With no previous experience of running a business we dived in head first learning as we go along! Our company breathes life into the world of The Berts and extends an invitation to everyone to embrace the incredible power of imagination and kindness.

We dream of inspiring a world where every Bert, no matter how different, is celebrated. Through our recycled robots and stories, we hope to make a difference, one heart at a time.

But, of course, life isn't all about work. When we're not busy with We Are Bert Ltd, Andy and I find joy in being grandparents. Andy loves nothing more than encouraging our grandchildren to create their own Berts, passing on his craftsmanship skills to the younger generation. On the other hand, I often find myself in the delightful position of being the playful grandparent, covered in stickers and engaging in games with our little ones.

In our family, nurturing creativity and joy is paramount. It's the same spirit we infuse into the making of The Berts and the telling of their stories.
